Artist statement
I was born and raised in Buffalo, WY. As long as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be an artist, and began creating art at an early age. I graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming in Laramie and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
My media of choice to work in are watercolor and charcoal, and my preferred subjects are the human figure, portraits, and still lives. I love the challenge of portraiture, reproducing traits and characteristics specific to each person. Many of my paintings consist of objects and subjects that usually wouldn’t be associated with each other or combined, incorporating a bit of surrealism and humor. Since people view objects, and even colors, differently, I think it is interesting that no two people will view art the same, and each person will associate different meaning to my work based on his/her own personal experiences, not on what the piece means to me.
